Finger piano mk.2

I wanted to try making a sansa/mbira with a metal body... There is a 1mm brass wire inlay on the soundboard (which is soldered on one side only to enable it to vibrate as freely as possible), and all the sides are textured with brass in the forge.
The lamellae are spring steel, I think it was 3mm. They are a bit heavy, should make lighter ones. I also tried different kinds of sawblades, but these look better IMO.
The body is MIG welded together from the inside, and the seams are then cleaned and covered with brass in the forge.

Melting the brass is a bit nast beacause of zinc content, but it creates a nice texture since the more zinc is burned away, the more brown it gets. This, together with oxidation colours create a lovely rainbow of golden & brown hues with additional sparks of blue and even green in places...

The inlay is not so clean, I didn't ground the surface to level, because I wanted to preserve the burnt surface of the sheet metal. Instead I tried to cut it to level with a chisel, with varying results, since the surface of the sheet metal is not even at all, so the chisel cut into the iron too often...
